First Rumors about new iPhone
Just in time before the Worldwide Developer Conference new rumors going round in the World Wide Web. Since 2007 Apple is presenting its latest smart phone model at the conference in June. And once again fans, media, analysts and investors may discuss about the hottest gossip in advance.
The initial impetus came from ‘Wall Street Journal’ reporting on the end of exclusive contracts with AT&T in the U.S. The new iPhone would work on a type of wireless network called CDMA, said the newspaper. This technology is used by competitor Verizon Wireless as well as Sprint Nextel Corp. and a handful of cellular operators in countries including South (...)

Great Britain wants to be number one in music biz
The British music industry wants to become the world's largest music producer. To achieve this goal UK Music presented its ambitions for the next decade. The so called ‘Liberating Creativity’ report includes recommendations to take on North America as the biggest music-producing country in the world by the year 2020.
Feargal Sharkey, CEO of UK Music, said: ‘It may sound a bit jingoistic of me - and frankly I don't care if it does - but the music thing is something we are really bloody good at. We are phenomenally good at it and we think we can go out there and genuinely dominate the world. We think we can give the Americans a good run for their money if not take them out, but we are going to need government's help to do that’.
The report suggests a new Government-backed music investment scheme, and a call for the government to quickly implement (...)

Snow Leopard vs. Windows 7
Two month before Microsoft’s Windows 7 is launching Apple introduces his new OS called Snow Leopard. The rivalry between both computer corporations reaches a new level with it. Reason enough to take a closer look at both systems.
Contrary to his predecessors Snow Leopard doesn’t come with new functions in heaps. Easy handling and above all fast computer power which needs less hard disk space were the main causes of the developers. Unfortunately the new software doesn’t support old macs without intel chip technology. Most features of Mac OS X 10.6. are hidden underneath the user interface. The 64-bit-architecture makes sure that programs run obviously faster. New technologies such as ‘Grand Central Dispatch’ and ‘Open CL’ improve the power of multi-core processors and provide more graphics card speed.

Google CEO resigns from Apple’s board
Google Inc. CEO Eric Schmidt quits from Apple’s board of directors. As Steve Jobs head of Apple Inc. told on Monday both sides have decided consensually that now is the right time to resign. Jobs said that the growing competition between the tech giants was decisive for the decision.
Both the mobile phone operating system Android and the intended operating system Chrome OS compete with Apple products. Schmidt’s membership in Apple’s board caused more and more conflicts of interest and he had to absent himself from even larger portions of meetings. Since 2006 Schmidt had been part of the board.
Due to this personnel involvement in two competing companies the US-Antitrust-Authorities have an eye on his work. The Antitrust-Guards are scrutinizing if the dual role infringed the competition (...)

Live Nation, Ticketmaster merger to be scrutinized
In February the world’s largest concert organizer Live Nation Inc. and the leading ticket seller Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. announced to merge. The combined company would concentrate two of the most powerful forces in the music industry resulting in effects on the whole branch.
Reasons enough for the US-Antitrust-Authorities to examine the merger. The Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights called on the Department of Justice to approve the transaction. Senator Herb Kohl, chairman of Senate Judiciary Committee's antitrust subcommittee said in a letter to Christine Varney, Assistant Attorney General, that the merger raises serious concerns and deserve close antitrust scrutiny.
Kohl is warning to create an entertainment giant that would (...)
